  • Act on or upon: It means to affect something.
    Example: Such hard work will act on (upon) your health.
  • Act under: It means to act in obedience to.
    Example: He acted under the orders of the Headmaster.
  • Act up to: It means to act according to.
    Example: He always acts up to my advice.

Vocabulary-2: (Main verb = Bear).

  • Bear away or off: It means to win something.
    Example: Salma bore away (off) four prizes in the annual sports.
  • Bear on: It means to relate to something or someone.
    Example: His remark does not bear on the subject.
  • Bear out: It means to support something or someone.
    Example: His evidence does not bear out the charge.
  • Bear up: It means to sustain in any situation.
